My Hat is off to Hold that Thought!" - Product Review by Stacey Salmonson

              "The countless hours you have saved me by my not having to search for timeline images on-line, or make copies of the (lesser-quality) ones that I had before is SO much appreciated! I love your CDs! I was, actually, pretty content with the timeline figures I had before, but yours are like fine, priceless treasures in comparison. Your products help make learning a joy, and make the load lighter for so many parent-teachers. (Believe me, we love anything that reduces our work-load! I LOVE homeschooling my kids, but it's definitely a full-time job, and then some!) I also very much appreciate the ease of use - the CDs are very user-friendly, and the detailed indexes are a wonderful help." - Deb, homeschool mother

              "'World and United States Time Line Cut Outs' accompanied by their blank Time Line Books are the most Mom friendly Time Line system I have run across and the best aspect is you don't need a giant wall to have a comprehensive overview of World History in a Time Line (Although there are instructions in the CD for making a Wall chart if you have the space and are so creatively inclined). Hours and hours of preparation and craft time is not necessary either, Hold that Thought has done it all for you! All you need is a printer scissors and glue! You can be simply academic about your Time Line or get wildly creative with your cut outs and Time Line book or Wall!

              I had a very difficult time choosing images to post on this review! Hold That Thought has one of the best Web sites I've seen in a long while, and strongly recommend a visit so you can see that their product is really top-quality. I intend to use several of these disks with my own children. The CDs are very easy to use."

              "In today's mail I received 2 CDs - 'World and United States Time Line Cut Outs' and "Bible and Church History Timeline Cut Outs" and I must admit, I am even MORE impressed! (I honestly didn't think it was possible, I was so thrilled with the notebooking resources!) SO, for those who are considering purchasing resources for timelines, I wanted to pass on my (hopefully humble!) opinion on these resources:
              Included in the 'World' section of the 'World and United States Time Line Cut Outs' CD are over 600(!!) time-line pictures to cut out for use on whatever type of time-line device you choose (My kiddos and I each have our own 3-ring binders, and these pics work wonderfully for them, and they would work just as well for an actual time-line on the wall.) They do work especially well for the notebook time-lines, as you can print off as many of the images as you need, without having to go make copies or spend large amounts of time scanning images to print copies at home. The images are top-quality, often very detailed, and include a wide variety of "styles" - many of the images are artist's renderings of the events, some are simple line-drawings (but very well-done), some are small maps that show where something took place, some are actual photographs of statues and other art, as well as buildings, people, and inventions (most of these, of course, in more recent times). All include information along with the images and dates.
Here is just a *very tiny* sampling of some of the timeline cut-outs in the 'World' section:
* Summerians have developed advanced agriculture by this time c3500 BC
* Early form of hieroglyphics in Egypt c3400 BC
* Julius Caesar assassinated on March 15th c44 BC
* Mayan Civilization Reaches it's peak 300-800
* St. Patrick's Day first celebrated (honoring St. Patrick's arrival in Ireland) 432
* Leprosy epidemic at it's height in Europe 1200s
* Chocolate first imported into Europe 1520
* George Frederick Handel composes 'Messiah' 1742
* Vincent Van Gogh paints his 'Sunflower' 1888
* George Orwell publishes his 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' 1944
* Legos first sold 1958
* First successful surgery on patient still in the womb,
* Remains of the Titanic located
* Hoof & Mouth disease epidemic, 2001

              Each cut-out is on a page with 9 others, but you can also choose to print *only* the specific image you're looking for (or even just *part* of the image!)
              There are *another* 500+ time-line cut-outs that are specific to United States History - *very* comprehensive, amazing in scope and detail! Also included are 'Date Cut Outs' (years, from 4000 BC through 2000 in the world section, and from 700 BC through 2000 - in the US section, with 'blank' year printouts available to add and customize however you like) and a nice 'Wall Chart timeline' that prints out in 9 pieces (one page each) with simple directions for assembly/use (labeled "top left, bottom center, etc.)
              The CD opens/plays automatically (at least it does on my PC, with Windows XP), has a very user-friendly user-interface, and includes detailed indexes of the images available, in chronological order.
The 'Bible and Church History' CD has even MORE fantastic timeline figures and helps! In the "Bible" section, there are 206 figure in the Old Testament, and 202 figures in the New Testament, each one correlated with a specific scripture passage. In the 'Church History' section, there are another 491 figures!! I don't know how more could possibly be included! The creators of these timeline figures have done an incredible amount of research and work to include just about anything you could think of.
              One of the best features of these, IMO, is the fact that you can print out AS MANY or as few as you want of the figures, so you can use them over and OVER and over again! You don't have to spend any more money or TIME to make copies! And, even better, you purchase the CD-roms ONCE - ALL of history is included in ONE purchase - no need to buy a new set every year! Yay!
              I think that these resources would make a fine addition to any curriculum, and are well worth the price ($19.95 for each of the 2 CDs - amazingly low, IMO, for the HUGE amount of images and the research that went into making and dating them appropriately."
- Jill, homeschooling Mother
